The Anatomy of Racism (Part 3 of 4)

Racism isn’t dead — it is hiding in the open.

Barack Obama’s presidency has exposed just how racist white America really is.

In 2008, a black man was finally elected president of the most powerful country in the world. At the time, many people (myself included) naively asserted that this will finally put a nail in the coffin of all the negative stereotypes that have been held about black people for good. Boy, were we wrong. It’s not for fault in Obama. No. Rather, his presence has exposed the raw, visceral, racist underbelly of white America that had been lurking in silence for so long. In this post, I will potently demonstrate the unpleasant reality that racism is by no means dead.

The Anatomy of Racism (Part 1 of 4)

If racism was taught, then who taught the first child to be racist?

Racial Segregation in Durham, NC

We have come a long way since the civil rights uproar in the 1960’s. Up until then, white folks were not afraid of openly and publicly denouncing black people as genetically inferior humans. It’s intriguing to consider then that since the 1960’s, the only thing that has changed is how society perceives racism. It seriously questions the notion that racism is taught. In this post, I will attempt to demonstrate that the propensity for racism is intrinsic to human nature. That is why even after society has successfully demonized this behaviour, it will never truly go away.

The Poisoning of The Black Diaspora

While every act of racism is an act of prejudice, not every act of prejudice is necessarily racist.

Black in a White Country

It's challenging being black in a white country.

February was considered black history month. However, I have since noticed a particularly disturbing trend lately and it appears to be more of a remnant of black history that still infects the present attitudes of blacks, particularly those living in many North American and European states. It appears there is still a portion of the black populace that largely hates other races and some of them have been drawn to this space — and probably for all the wrong reasons.

We’re All Africans

January 31, 2011 30 comments

There’s no point describing a person as being of African descent — that’s describing the entire human race.

Every time I hear people refer to black folk as “people of African descent”, I chuckle a little bit inside. What’s even more amusing is the common practice of referring to white folk as people of North Eastern European descent. Both expressions are largely incorrect. The research of the Human Genome project over the last 20 years has proven in fact that we are all Africans.

The Underrated Black Woman

September 18, 2010 34 comments

…a beautiful woman is often a happy woman, even though happy women are rarely beautiful.

You’re pretty – for a black girl”. This is back handed a compliment I hear all too often in the black community. Apparently it’s not good enough to just be a pretty girl, since being black seems to make the whole idea an oxymoron. The expression automatically implies that black girls do not carry the genetic capacity to be pretty. It suggests that in the hierarchy of beauty, black women rank dead last. Is this even remotely true? Are black women intrinsically ugly? There is hypocrisy at work here, and not surprisingly, it isn’t being largely propagated by men.

Why is being Biracial an issue?

September 13, 2009 13 comments

“People seem to instinctively value group membership more than group purpose.”

This is a trailer for a documentary called “I’m biracial… not black, damnit!“. It chronicles an ongoing and topical issue among Americans. Is a person who is mixed to identify with blacks or whites? Personally I think the whole issue is moot. Scientifically, the question is as irrelevant as the whole topic of race.

Why Life is not fair

If survival is only for the fittest then all men weren’t created equal.

Xenocrates

fish-failSurvival is only for the fittest. No exceptions.

Life is all about survival. Survival is all about competition. There would be no point to there being a competition if we all were made exactly identical to each other. We may all be of the same general design, but where the environment is concerned, some of us are much better implemented than others. That’s why only the fittest will survive while even the fit, will perish.
